We are going to have a humanitarian service day on
September 29, 2012, 2 PM - 6 PM, followed by dinner and then the General Relief
Society Broadcast.
We will be working on several projects at the stake
center including sewing receiving blankets, making baby booties (new and easier
pattern!), tying baby quilts, and painting wooden toys (helicopters and
airplanes).
We need each ward to bring 2 sewing machines for the
sisters to use.
Please ask your sisters for donations of flannel for the
receiving blankets. We need 1 yard of flannel for the front or the blanket and
1 yard of flannel for the back, so 2 yards of flannel in 1 yard pieces. Also
ask them to bring their best, sharpest scissors to use. We have the rest of the
materials we need.
We will also be collecting knitted hats for newborns. If
you would put the patterns below out to your sisters and ask any knitters if
they'd make a cap or two and bring them to our activity or turn them in to you
that would be great! The caps take a couple of hours max to make and use less
than a skein of yarn.Tell the women to be creative and use the scraps of yarn
they have left over from other projects!
