Congratulations sisters! Last week the Stake Relief Society Presidency told us that Glen Allen has the highest visiting teaching percentage!! Thank you for all you do!! In an effort to reach even more sisters, several changes were made in the visiting teaching routes. If you didn't receive a copy of your assignment, it may be in the mail. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Please check your assignment paper to see if the ward has your correct phone number and email address.
Did you notice the posters for the Stake Women's Conference "Who Are You?" on Feb. 26. There will be an opening session at 10 AM (registration beginning at 9:30) with Bruce Graham from the Mechanicsville Ward - his topic, living without power or water. Then we will have 3 sessions of mini classes. There are 6 classes to choose from: I Am Going Green, I Am In Control, I Am A Survivor, I Am A Mormon, I Am Wise, I Am NOT My Stuff. Lunch will be served and the event ends at 1pm.
Congratulations to Justin and Sara Brockbank on the birth of their son Asher Bradley who was a healthy 10 lbs 8 oz!
There will be another group of sisters going to the temple on Saturday, January 29th. Please see left side bar for details.

RS Announcements 1.16.11
The Stake Relief Society Quilting Day is this Saturday, January 22 from 10am-2pm at the Monument building. Please note that there will NOT be a nursery provided.
If you did not pick up a sheet about group activities, please read the left side bar for details on each group: Book Club, Temple Trip, Family Home Evening, Personal History, Recipe Club and Playgroup.
The Webelos are conducting a food drive and will donate items to the Central Virginia Foodbank. Please bring items to the church. There will be boxes in the foyers and the Relief Society room. The Foodbank is in most need of the following items: peanut butter; canned tuna, salmon, chicken and ham; canned fruits and vegetables; hot and cold cereals; pasta and rice. The food drive will continue from Jan. 16 to Feb. 20.
The stake is organizing some women's basketball teams. Games will be played on Feb. 11 and Mar. 11. Sign up is at www.stake-events.com/play.
The Glen Allen Ward is responsible for cleaning the building in February. If your family is assigned but you are not available your week, please trade with another family.

Our ward would like to encourage everyone to read the Book of Mormon this year. All of the Primary children are also working on this goal.
The next temple trip is planned for Saturday, January 22nd. If you would like to carpool with other sisters, please call Faye Mullins at 501-2101 and contribute to gas expenses. Sisters will meet at CrossRidge Shopping Center at 8am (on Staples Mill Rd, south of 295). Please note the temple is closed until Jan. 18.
The missionaries appreciate your meals. If you are available to have them over for dinner this week on Friday or Saturday, please call them to arrange it: Elders Cook and Willamson 523-0682.
There is a sister in need of a breast pump. If you have one you can loan out, please get in touch with Esther Church at 252-3643 (It is for her daughter Sarah).
Thank you to all who helped with the meal for Sister Swinson's funeral. Please check in the kitchen if you left a bowl or pan that day.
Best of luck to the Oakes family who is moving to New Hampshire this week.
And welcome to the Luthy's, the Mead's and the Smith's.

News for the New Year

Sister Edith Swinson passed away on Friday, December 31. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Bliley's at 8510 Staples Mill Rd. The funeral service will be at 10am on Wednesday, January 5 at the Monument building. Interment at Westhampton Memorial Park.
There is a Stake Relief Society Quilting Activity on Saturday, January 22. All sisters are invited to participate-no experience necessary! It will be from 10am to 2pm at the Monument building with lunch and nursery available. If you would like to donate fabric, it should be 45" wide and at least 36" long. Cotton or cotton blend, patterned or plain fabrics suitable for quilting are needed.
