Knitted Baby Cap Patterns

The stake has been getting a lot of requests for the baby cap patterns used in the September Humanitarian Day of Service. If you are interested, you can get started on the batch of hats we are going to donate this upcoming September.

Please find sites for hats. If knit in the round, I go to double point needles when it gets hard to decrease. I use the shortest circular needles I can find meaning the space between both points are short.  Look over all to get an idea of what you want to do.  If you all want to make lots of hats then the directions I wrote and the YouTube below it is the best to do.

Use size 6 or 8 needles. Cast on 30 stitches.
Pattern: Knit one row, purl one row, knit one row. Repeat 24 times (72 rows total). Bind off.
With yarn needle, draw one long edge of knitting together. Sew short edges together and add pompon on top.

Baby Cap Knitted

Material: Soft Worsted Yarn or Baby Yarn
Knitting Needles: Size 8 or 11

Cast on 42 stitches loosely.

Rows 1 through 7: Knit across (Garter Stitch)

Then, beginning with a knit row, work in stockinet stitch until piece measures approximately 4 1/2 inches from cast on edge, ending with a purl row.

Shaping:
    Row 1: (K3, K2, tog.) across
    Row 2  and all wrong side rows: purl across
    Row 3: (K2, K2 tog.) across
    Row 5: (K1, K2 tog.) across
    Row 7: (K2 tog.) across
    Row 9: (K2 tog. across, cut yarn leaving a long end for sewing.

Slip needle with long end through remaining stitches, gather tightly and secure weave seam.

If the cap is too small use thicker yarn or cast on more stitches. Do the opposite if cap is too large.

A 12-Step Program will be offered by the Richmond Virginia Stake designed exclusively for women. Beginning Wednesday, March 27, the 12-Step Program meetings will be held from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. in the Stake Center’s High Council Room. The group facilitator will be Sandy Willis.

Scouts Brunswick Stew Sale

Scouts from the Mechanicsville ward are doing a Brunswick stew sale. The stew will be made on the 16th. Quarts are $7 each. Emily Richardson can deliver your order to the church if that is more convenient. Please have cash or a check made out to BSA Troop 569.
