Recipe Club

For those interested, tonight at 6:30 Recipe Club will be meeting at Shannon Garofalo's home.  The theme for this month is soup, salad and bread.  Come and enjoy the food and/or the company.

Stake Employment Office Hours

Stake Employment office hours, 2nd and 4th Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. This is an opportunity for members to work with employment specialists one on one for employment-related activities such as writing resumes, networking and goal setting. Appointments are not required. Update - Tri-Stake Single Adult Conference

The annual Richmond Tri-Stake Single Adult Conference is scheduled for April 20-22 at the Monument Chapel.

We will hear from Sister Kristen M. Oaks, author of "A Single Voice" and Elder Lansing, our Area Seventy, in the morning session at 10 AM (Saturday April 21st). In the afternoon session the program will include the Brother Terryl Givens (LDS Scholar), the Scotts (President and Matron of the Raleigh Temple) and President Joel Maddock (Counselor in the Midlothian Stake Presidency).

- Young Single Adults (19-30) are invited to attend the Saturday sessions of the conference

- We would like everyone that is attending to pre-register for planning purposes. The simplest is signing up at www.richmondldssingles.com. On the lefthand column click "Register for Conference" and it will ask a few simple questions about name and address and if you plan on eating any meals.

- There is a suggested "contribution" on the registration site only if you are eating meals at the conference. If you are just attending the conference the suggested contribution is not applicable. You are welcome to make the contribution at the door. We don't want the meal contribution to keep anyone from attending - it is indeed a contribution and not a cost.

YW Activity/help needed

The YW will be making easy-sew dresses for their May 2 activity.  They need sister's with sewing machines to either come that night or let them borrow the machines.

Policies for Submitting Names for Temple Ordinances

Recently, the First Presidency of the Church reiterated the policies, first stated in 1995, concerning the submitting of names for proxy temple ordinances. As a user of the system (new.familysearch.org) where temple ordinances are cleared and submitted, you should follow these important policies. You will find the policy letter attached to this e-mail.

In a related Church News article, Brother Dennis C. Brimhall, managing director of the Family History Department, reported that “the searching out of our family and preparing the names for the work to be done in the temple is . . . a responsibility, but it is also a privilege. That privilege is extended to the members by those who hold the keys to [do] the work. The[se] keys . . . are held by the First Presidency of the Church” (Sarah Jane Weaver, “Family History—Church Asks Members to Understand Policies,” Church News, Mar. 1, 2012). Accordingly, the Conditions of Use for users of new.familysearch.org and familysearch.org require compliance to the policies before you can submit names to the temple. Noncompliance by a user could mean the loss of his or her privileges to use the system.

Our deepest sympathies

We wish to express our condolences to the Orr family.  Many of you may remember Brother & Sister Bruce Orr who were in our ward several years ago.  Brother Orr had esophageal cancer and had been in remission.  Brother Orr passed away last night, our thoughts and prayers are with his son & daughter-in-law; Bobby & Heather Orr who are in our ward.
