RS Announcements 9/25/2011

The announcements for this week are as follows:

9/25 (Today) - Central Virginia Food Bank food drive
Today is the last day of the food drive. You can still donate online today if you missed the boxes at church (see last week's announcements for details on how to donate online).

9/28 (Wed) - Youth music night at 7:00 in the chapel
All are invited to listen to our youth share their musical talents if you would like to come. Chapel dress.

10/1 & 2 (Sat/Sun) - General Conference 12:00-2:00 & 4:00-6:00 p.m. both days
Verizon and all other cable and broadcast systems that carry BYU-TV will broadcast all sessions live via the BYU-TV channel. Comcast customers, Dish, DirecTV, satellite TV and radio subscribers and those on other cable systems will find information at http://bonneville.info. You can also stream each session live on http://www.lds.org.

10/9 (Sunday) - Fast Sunday

10/12 (Wednesday) - RS Meeting - "Financial Smarts" 7:00
Join us for an evening of practical tips and sound financial principles on managing our finances. Speakers will include Christy Fiala and Devin Garofalo. After our presentation on "Financial Smarts" we will break into one of two classes (pick one or the other): "Teaching Children Good Financial Habits" or "Planning for Retirement". Nursery provided.

10/15 (Saturday) - Stake Temple Day
There is a Stake meeting at 11:00 in temple. All are encouraged to attend a session before or after the meeting.

10/21 & 22 (Friday/Saturday) - Time Out for Women

RS Announcements 8/20/2011

The announcements for this week are as follows:

RS General Broadcast, Stake Service Day & Dinner

Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Stake Center

2:30-6:00 p.m. Service projects (come & go as you can):

Come paint wooden toys or sew baby receiving blankets or booties.

Sisters wishing to sew should bring scissors marked with your name.

We are asking for donations of flannel (2 yards for each blanket) or fleece (1/3 yard)

(no felt is needed)

Come and participate even if you are not able to donate material.

6:30-7:30-Dinner for all sisters 18 and older

8:00-9:30 p.m. General Relief Society Broadcast from Salt Lake City

There will not be a nursery for any of these events.

September 25^th (Sun) – last Sunday to donate to the Central Virginia Food Bank food drive.

Our ward is joining with other wards from our stake in a Food and Funds Drive to support the Central Virginia Food Bank during the month of September. The Stake Presidency would like to see as many members as possible participate in this service to our community. Here are three ways you can help:

1. Make a food donation - The most needed food donations to the food bank are peanut butter and tuna. Next on the needs list are canned fruit and breakfast cereals. We would encourage members to consider donating these items; however, all non perishables food items will be appreciated. Donation boxes will be located in the foyers of the church.

2. Make a monetary donation online - Visit http://feedmore.org/ways-to-give/individual-giving/donate. This will bring you to a form for online donations. When the form asks "I would my gift to be credited to this food drive:" fill in LDS Church - Glen Allen Ward. The food bank will mail you a letter (for tax purposes) acknowledging your donation.

3. Make a monetary donation by check- check should be made out to "Central Virginia Food Bank." Please note in the memo that you are supporting the LDS Church- Glen Allen Ward drive. Mail checks to Central VA Food Bank 1415 Rhoadmiller St. Richmond, VA 23220. The food bank will mail you a letter (for tax purposes) acknowledging your donation.

Parents of primary children: President Mullins has suggested that each child could be encouraged to bring a can of food to donate to this drive.

October 15^th (Sat) – Stake Temple Day

There is a stake meeting at 11:00 a.m. in the temple. Please make attending an endowment session before or after the meeting a priority.
