Playgroup will be meeting inside the Regency Mall at the play area, downstairs near the food court, at 10:00 am.  Hope you can make it!

Women's Conference - updated

Saturday, June 2 we will be visited by Sister Stephens, Sister Cook, and Sister Bingham from the General RS Presidency, General Young Women's Presidency, and General Primary Board.

3:00 – 4:30 Women’s meeting at Richmond VA Stake Center, 2500 Pump Rd, for all sisters, 18 years old and older from 4 stakes.  (Laurels are invited also.) Stake Presidents from the 4 stakes are invited to attend

*I know some sisters will want to get there early to get a seat but there will be meetings going on the chapel and cultural hall so arriving at 2:30 is the earliest  recommended time to arrive.*

16th Annual SVU Education Conference

For two days each summer, Southern Virginia University plays host to participants from across the country who journey to this serene valley in the Blue Ridge Mountains to attend an extraordinary conference for Latter-day Saints. We invite you to come and enjoy the beautiful campus while being inspired and instructed by our distinguished speakers who will be joining us from across the country.

The theme of this year’s conference is “Journey to Higher Ground”. Organized and hosted by a committee chaired by Kathleen Knight, wife of the Southern Virginia University Board of Trustees Chair Glade Knight, the conference has become a tradition for many over the past 16 years. Don’t miss this opportunity to reconnect and recharge in a beautiful setting.

Young Women Theme

For those of us who do not have a daughter in YW's and haven't learned the new theme.  I'm posting it here.

We are daughters of our Heavenly Father, who loves us, and we love Him. We will “stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places” (Mosiah 18:9) as we strive to live the Young Women values, which are:

Faith • Divine Nature • Individual Worth • Knowledge • Choice and Accountability • Good Works • Integrity • and Virtue

We believe as we come to accept and act upon these values, we will be prepared to strengthen home and family, make and keep sacred covenants, receive the ordinances of the temple, and enjoy the blessings of exaltation.

YW Camp Fundraiser - CHOCOLATE!

School is almost out – and the Young Women will soon be headed to Girls Camp.  But they need to raise the needed funds first!   

Just in time for Mother’s Day, Young Women are making and selling: 

Hand Dipped Chocolate Pretzels

Delicious milk chocolate and white chocolate pretzels, hand-dipped and assembled in a festive gift bag complete with cheery tag and bow – ready for the gifting!

A perfect gift for Mother’s Day gift, teachers, piano teachers, get well or just “I’m thinking of you!”

One bag:  $10 each

OR

3 bags for $25

The Young Women will be dipping pretzels just before Mother’s Day so they will be ready for pick-up:

·         Saturday afternoon, Sat, 5/12 at the church

·         Saturday afternoon, Sat 5/12 on the north side of town in Glen Allen

·         Or at church on Mother’s Day, Sun 5/13

Cost for camp have gone up this year – the girls need to sell 135 bags of yummy pretzels.   Please help them make their goal!

How would you like to tutor English?

Do you think you could teach someone English?  Want to try?  Someone is looking for a tutor to teach English  to a homeschooler.  Pay is $25 dollars an hour for 3-4 hours a week.  If you are interested or think this is for you please let Bernadette know.

Young Single Adult Fireside

May 4 at the Stake Center there will be a YSA fireside.  YSA please be seated by 6:45PM for this fireside at which Elder Nelson will be presiding.

A unique project

Richmond Virginia Stake Members,

Be part of history! This is a call to all youth and adult members of our stake to join an historic and unique project, one you can do from your own home computer and on your own schedule, for as little or as much time as you wish. After 72 years the US Census Office has released the 1940 census information. Recent Ensign articles and talks by Church leaders have asked anyone able to join with thousand of volunteers around the country, members and non-members of the Church, to help index the digital images of this census. You chose the amount of time you volunteer, hours or even minutes, and the time of day that you wish to help, and you do it all from your own home.

Anyone - adults, homebound, youth (It's great for community service hours or as an Eagle project) can help. This is a fun and exciting project which will allow millions to easily find new information about family members who lived during that time period. Find your own grandparents!

Career & Employment Workshop

We will be holding a Career & Employment Workshop Saturday May 19th from 9am-4pm. The location will be confirmed at a later date, but will be at either the Richmond Stake Center or the Richmond Branch building. Participants need to register ahead of time for the workshop and should bring a bag lunch.
