We need 3 volunteers for our last clean-up duty in the Storehouse for Tuesday, December 27th.  Typically, it takes about l to l.5 hours.  Starting time is between 9-10 am.  Please contact Wendell Gaddis or Bishop Rich.

A special thank you

As many of you know, we had a wonderful RS Christmas party at Erlynn Lansing's beautiful, festive home!  To be able to relax, chat, munch, and mingle with each other was delightful in the midst of this busy season.  Thanks to our fantastic food committee, Faye Mullins, Darlene Lacy, and Lisa Bailey, and the stirring, dramatic performance provided by our sisters in the spiritual program!

Car seats needed

The Richmond Branch has a need for car seats. The members there provide significant transportation to help other members come to church. A problem they have is making sure that there are car seats for the children and infants that are picked up. Many times these families being transported may not have a car and therefore they don't have car seats.

The current estimated need is: Infant Car Seats: 3 Toddler Car Seats: 4 Booster Seats for older children: 4

The branch will keep the car seats and "loan" them to the members doing the driving.

*The Glen Allen Ward needs car seats for a 3 and 4 year old.

Would anyone be able to donate an unexpired car seat or contribute money to purchase a car seat?

Ward Christmas Party

For those who volunteered to decorate a table for the Ward Christmas Party:

Here are a few of the details of what we are needing:

The tables are 60 inches across,  you can use any type of covering you desire.  You are not expected to go out and buy anything for this.  Just use what you have at home.

The place setting will be for EIGHT.  It will need to include plates, cups, napkins, forks, knives and spoons and a center piece of some sort.  A nativity, flowers, anything!  Let your imagination run wild.  Remember, the tables will be judged, just for fun.

The church will be opened on Saturday the 10th at Noon and you can come and decorate anytime during the day.

All tables need to be completed by 4:30 that afternoon.  Dinner will be served at 6:00 and we want to have everything ready.

Colorful, Fun, Festive is the name of the game!

Have a great time with this.  Thank you for participating!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Margie Harton 288-6189 or email margie.harton@gmail.com

Career & Employment Workshop

On  December 9th & 10th we will be holding a Career & Employment Workshop for Professionals at the Richmond Stake Center, taught by the full-time staff from our Employment Services office in DC. This is a workshop generally offered to us only once a year.

The workshop will begin Friday Dec 9th at 7PM and run until 10:00 PM. It will continue Saturday Dec 10th at 9 AM and run through 4PM. Participants will need to bring a bag lunch on Saturday.

Here are some additional details about the workshop from our Stake Employment Specialist, Tish Heflebower: "This workshop is geared toward individuals seeking employment with a salary target of $75,000 or higher.  In addition it is open for those professionals looking to change careers or who desire to take their current careers to the next level.  Students who will be graduating from college, grad school, medical, dental or law school.  Others that are small business owners have found the skills learned in this workshop to be useful in helping to build their business."

Though the workshop will be held at the stake center it will be open to at least 3 stakes and seating is limited. So early registration is very important.

I can tell you personally that this workshop was more helpful for me than an outplacement service costing in excess of $10,000 provided by my company when I lost my job.

We'd appreciate it if you would (in consultation with other ward Priesthood and Auxiliary leaders) consider individuals in your ward who may benefit from this workshop and invite them to participate.

I am the point of contact for registration at Tish.heflebower@gmail.com  I can be reached by phone at 804-928-3868. Please feel free to contact me with questions as well."

We hope that members of our stake and surrounding areas will be able to take advantage of this special opportunity. We're also encouraging any Ward Employment Specialists who have not been to this workshop to attend as observers.

Please also feel free to contact the following with questions:

Candace Harman (Assistant Stake Employment Specialist):  vacandace@gmail.com or 804-380-8558
Hank Heilesen: hankheilesen@ymail.com or 804-240-864.
